Saturday 18th April

Overnight Ferry to St Malo

Board Brittany Ferries for an overnight sailing from Portsmouth to St Malo. A private en-suite sea-facing cabin is booked for your comfort.

There will be a welcome dinner onboard.

Sunday 19th April

St Malo to Dinard

After a morning arrival in St Malo explore this lovely medieval town, still encased within sturdy ramparts. Walk through the gateways piercing its mighty walls to reach a magnificent golden beach, where tiny fortified islets emerge from the waves at low tide. 


Then drive along the coast via Pointe du Grouin for dramatic coastal views. Stop in Cancale for oysters and harbour stroll before continuing along the coast to Mont St Michel, a French icon.


Enjoy a scenic inland route via Combourg and Dol-de-Bretagne for its striking cathedral, and on to Dinan, a medieval gem with cobbled streets.


Our coastal hotel for the next two nights is near Dinard. Dinner will be in the hotel in the panoramic restaurant.

St Malo to Dinard

Monday 20th April

Emerald & Pink Granite Coast

A fabulous route along the Emerald Coast to see the dramatic cliffs and lighthouse at Cap Frehel. Continue on to the pink sandstone cliffs at Erquy and pink granite at Ploumanac’h, often voted France’s favourite village.


Return to Dinard. Spa or promenade walk before dinner, which is at leisure.

Tuesday 21st April

Domaine de Locguenole

Head south west to Jugon les Lacs and Josselin, famed for its castle, and onto Vannes with it’s lovely old town on Brittany’s southern coast.

Visit the renowned Carnac Megaliths on the way to the next hotel, where you will stay for two nights.


Dinner will be at the hotel both evenings.

Wednesday 22nd April

Pont Aven & Quimper

A lovely mix of coastal and inland D-roads to Pont-Aven, the ‘city of painters’, famed for Gauguin and the Pont-Aven School. Stroll riverside quays, visit art galleries, and enjoy the buttery galettes de Pont-Aven.


Quimper is the capital of Cornouaille, with Gothic Saint-Corentin Cathedral, cobbled streets, and faïence pottery workshops.


Return to the hotel via Scaer and Quimperle, a picturesque town at the confluence of three rivers, with a Romanesque abbey, medieval streets, and riverside cafés.

Pont Aven & Quimper

Thursday 23rd April

Return to UK

Drive north to Roscoff for the ferry to Plymouth. Alternatively we can book an overnight crossing from St Malo to Portsmouth.


The route travels through the mystical forests of Huelgoat, famous for giant moss-covered boulders, the ‘Chaos of Rocks’, and Arthurian legends.


Continue north to Morlaix with its historic viaduct, half-timbered houses, and cobbled lanes, then on to Roscoff, a charming port town with granite houses, botanical gardens, and known for its onion trade and thalassotherapy.


The ferry departs at 2pm, and arrives in Plymouth at 20.15. Depart for home.
